Introducing Share of Essex PDF Print E-mail

In keeping with our mission, the Islamic Center of America collaborates with organizations that can help to provide for the development and support of our community. Share of Essex is one such organization.  Share’s focus is on providing social service avenues for the Muslims and the surrounding community with an attention to Islamic Adab.  We will add more information about Share of Essex in the future but in the mean time below you will find an outline of Share of Essex’s role.

The Role of SHARE

SHARE will perform four major functions in relationship to the Masjid-Centered Social Assistance Delivery Model:

  • SHARE will offer case management and other social assistance delivery training to members of the Network to facilitate their ability to assist members of their communities in addressing the members’ human service needs.

  • Where case management intervention requires direct involvement of the SHARE case manager, this functionary will assist in the development of a case management plan, and the masjid case manager can then assist the individual in implementing the plan and can follow-up to assure fidelity to the plan.

  • Where individuals accessing services through public and private, non-profit social service agencies feel that the quality of service they receive is diminished because of the provider’s perception of their religion, SHARE will intervene and advocate on behalf of the service recipient.

SHARE will assist the masjid in assessing the needs of the community surrounding their masjid.  It is the responsibility of the Network to address both the needs of their masjid community as well and the human service needs of individuals residing in the physical community in which the masjid is located
