Alhamdolillah, Islam is the truth and we learn very valuable lessons on how to work on perfecting our fallible human character from Islam. By learning and practicing Islam in our lives completely we attempt to approach this task of perfecting our character . We have conversations among ourselves and hear from our elders about the decline of the Sunnah of making the Masjid the center of our lives. We also hear about the tremendous reward for being attached to the Masjid and loving each other for Allah’s sake.
Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "There are seven whom Allah will shade with His shade on the day when there is no shade but His shade: a just Imam, a youth who grows up worshiping Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, a man whose heart is attached to the mosque, two men who love each other for the sake of Allah, meeting and parting for that reason alone, a man who refuses the advances of a noble and beautiful woman, saying, 'I fear Allah', a man who gives sadaqa and conceals it so that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives, and a man who remembers Allah when he is alone and his eyes overflow with tears." [Agreed upon]
What we are looking for here are groups of families to make a commitment to be a part of family night. The idea is not for the Masjid to “host” a gathering. The families will organize and provide the resources from start to finish for family night. The families will of course follow the rules and etiquette of the Masjid and stay in communication with the responsible parties to ensure that everything is covered appropriately. All are welcome to participate in family night but if we start with only two families then the two families should get together and organize the event. Insha’ Allah other families may see the benefit of getting together with the Muslims in the area to learn, play, eat, an even yes discuss concerns. We can attempt to attach ourselves t to the Masjid and love each other for the sake of Allah. We can try to affect our youth so that they fit the criteria of, “ a youth who grows up worshiping Allah”.
Please fill out the form below expressing your interest in family night for your family. Single brothers or sisters may express interest but if you can get together with your extended family or close friends that would be more desirable. The form is intended to get some basic feedback so that we can present a preliminary proposal to the responsible people at the Masjid. May Allah grant us success at uniting our hearts on his truth Ameen.
